Black Hills Wineries near Hill City, SD

One of the more popular Hill City attractions includes a slate of Black Hills wineries that all offer some tasty South Dakota wine. Hill City is home to three wineries as well as a tasting room to help you give you a sampling of the local options. Those looking to venture outside of Hill City have a few options including places in Rapid City and beyond. Explore the various wineries in and out of Hill City when you stay at the Lantern Inn.

Twisted Pine

Twisted Pine carries a tagline of "Every South Dakota Wine in one location." The tasting room features wines from six different wineries across South Dakota as well as other options from outside the state. Firehouse SmokeJumper Station

Firehouse SmokeJumper Station is a seasonal option for guests with specified hours depending on the season. The winery is closed during the winter months. The rest of the year, however, Firehouse SmokeJumper Station offers the best wine and beer Rapid City's Firehouse Brewing Company has to offer. The wine listing features several internationally-awarded South Dakota wines that range in flavor. As for beers, Firehouse has crafted them for over 30 years and feature 40 unique styles ranging from IPAs to lagers.

Prairie Berry Winery is truly an experience. One of the unique features of Prairie Berry is wine tastings are free. Prairie Berry is home to a slew of award-winning wines that include dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, sweet and many other options. The winery is also home to a kitchen that offers lunch or an afternoon snack between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Visitors to Prairie Berry can also enjoy handcrafted beers. Naughti Wines (Naked Winery)

For about 10 years, Naughti Wines went by the name Naked Winery. That all changed in the summer of 2021 as the winery rebranded but still offered quality South Dakota wines. Some of the options include red, white, rose and sweet wines, among other options. Naughti Wines specializes in hosting group events as well as personalized wine tastings. Children are welcome for an ice cream flavor tasting.

Other Wineries Farther from Hill City

Hill City has all you need in terms of Black Hills wineries but you don't have to stop at the city limits. There are plenty of wineries outside of Hill City that are worth your time. You can take a 27-mile trek to Rapid City to Firehouse Brewing Company for many delicious options. Spearfish Creek Wine Bar, Sturgis Wine Co., and Belle Joli Winery Sparkling House are some great options just north of Hill City. There is no shortage of places to go to find some quality South Dakota wine. Each of these Black Hills wineries are a great place to start on your wine-tasting journey.
